In the floatigation, the media used is biochar. The biochar is grounded in the form of soil texture (of the sizes of sand silt and clay) and applied. In the open systems there is enough oxygen in the water, which provides good aeration to the roots, therefore root-rot is averted. As the roots are hanging close to the water surface the water is relatively clean and clear. The floating matter does not obstruct the water intake by roots.
